NCCOR is pleased to announce that Dr. Laura Balis will present new NCCOR research at the International Society of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity (ISBNPA) 2024 Conference in Omaha. Her presentation, scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 9:50 AM to 11:05 am CT, is titled “Opportunities for Physical Activity Research, Policy, and Practice: A Conceptual Framework.”
The new research is a product of NCCOR’s Physical Activity Research Gaps workgroup, which reviewed documents from government and national non-profits to extract and condense 431 opportunities into actionable strategies. These strategies encompass various aspects of translational research and intervention levels, including significant considerations for health equity.
The findings identify and categorize key opportunities to address knowledge gaps and enhance physical activity across diverse communities, especially those experiencing health inequities. They are presented in a practical framework to guide funders, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners in advancing physical activity promotion.
Dr. Balis, a Research Scientist at The Center for Nutrition and Health Impact (formerly the Gretchen Swanson Center for Nutrition) brings a robust background in human nutrition, foods, exercise, and behavioral and implementation science to her presentation.
